Having studied 3D design in the U.S. in the early 1980's, I returned to the U.K. to take a course in sculpture. Pottery classes at adult education followed this for several years and I completed the Ceramics City and Guilds I and II.

Working in the depths of the Kentish countryside, I make large thrown pots, often in two or three sections. These are burnished and then smoked in wood shavings and sawdust. This method of decoration creates earthy natural colours along with an element of surprise with every firing, so each pot is unique.

Form is the key element of design, followed by the pattern. Sources of inspiration range from classical to 19th and 20th century styles, Japanese folk art and natural forms.

I have exhibited in galleries throughout the south-east of the UK, and with the Kent Potters Association.
