Karen Papworth (Spike)

Once upon a time I did a foundation course at Middlesex, then three years at Kingston and graduated with a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art (Painting.)

Carried on with all things creative with a fantastic career in advertising, then reached a point where I could concentrate on my artwork again on a pretty much full-time basis.

I've been working on a series of portraits of my Siamese cat. She's very graphic, both in terms of her colouring and also the expressions and movements she makes and the challenge has been to capture some of her many faces and present them in a contemporary way.

I'm a member of the Pilgrim's Way Art Group in Lenham and have exhibited at the Wadhurst Art Show.

Oh yes, and I also run the wonderful West End House Gallery in Smarden with the esteemed Pia Carti. Which doesn't really leave a lot of time for painting...
